At Stantec, we are helping shape this future by delivering high-quality engineering solutions that support the improvement and development of water and wastewater assets across the UK.
We’re looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our growing Water team in Cardiff. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your career within a leading multidisciplinary consultancy, gaining experience on nationally significant infrastructure projects while working alongside experienced engineers and technical specialists.
You’ll be part of a collaborative team where you can:
- Support the delivery of electrical and EICA design solutions across water and wastewater projects.
- Gain exposure to the full project lifecycle, from feasibility through to construction support.
- Develop your technical skills through hands-on project experience and mentoring.
- Work alongside multidisciplinary teams delivering sustainable solutions for communities and the environment.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As an Electrical Engineer, you will support the delivery of electrical and EICA design services across a range of water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Working alongside senior engineers and project teams, you will contribute to the development of safe, efficient, and innovative engineering solutions.
Your role will involve supporting electrical design activities throughout the project lifecycle, including feasibility studies, optioneering, detailed design, and construction support. You will assist with the preparation of technical documentation, drawings, and specifications, while collaborating with engineers from different disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery.
You will have the opportunity to build your technical capability, learn from experienced industry professionals, and contribute to projects that have a meaningful impact on communities.
YOUR IMPACT
The work you deliver will help support the development of resilient water infrastructure that communities rely on every day. By contributing to the design of essential assets, you’ll play a role in improving operational performance, supporting sustainability goals, and helping clients meet the challenges facing the water sector.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
