Electrical Engineering Manager

Chemring Energetics UK is a global leader in the provision of energetic material-based equipment for defence, civil defence, and key commercial markets. We are now seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Manager to join our team and provide technical leadership for the safe, reliable, and legally compliant operation of the site's electrical infrastructure.

As our Electrical Engineering Manager, you will lead the site's electrical engineering function, acting as the technical authority for electrical safety, HV/LV distribution systems, hazardous area compliance, and asset integrity.

Reporting to the Head of Site Engineering, you will ensure statutory compliance, oversee electrical engineering standards, support the delivery of capital projects, and drive continuous improvement across the site's electrical systems.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated engineering professional to play a key role in shaping the site's electrical engineering strategy, ensuring the highest standards of safety, compliance, and operational performance.

Key Accountabilities & Duties:

  • Ensure all activities under your control comply with Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation, as well as Company policies and procedures.
  • Report unsafe acts or conditions using the Near Miss system, as part of your responsibility under the Health and Safety at Work Act.
  • Act as the site's Electrical Duty Holder (or support the appointed Duty Holder), providing technical leadership for electrical safety management.
  • Own and manage compliance of the site's High Voltage (HV) and Low Voltage (LV) electrical distribution systems, ensuring statutory inspections, maintenance, testing, and certification activities are completed.
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve the site's electrical safety rules, safe systems of work, isolation procedures, and permit-to-work standards.
  • Provide technical leadership for ATEX and hazardous area electrical compliance, ensuring installation, inspection, and maintenance activities meet applicable standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain the site's hazardous area equipment register and inspection programme, ensuring deficiencies are appropriately risk assessed and managed.
  • Lead electrical asset integrity programmes to ensure the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of electrical infrastructure and equipment.
  • Support reliability improvement initiatives, failure investigations, and root cause analysis for electrical equipment failures.
  • Provide electrical engineering design, specification, technical review, and assurance for the site's capital investment programme.
  • Review and approve electrical design packages, ensuring compliance with legislation, standards, company specifications, and operational requirements.
  • Provide engineering oversight during project installation, commissioning, modification, and handover activities.
  • Support Management of Change (MoC) processes by assessing the impact of proposed electrical system changes on safety, compliance, and plant reliability.
  • Manage electrical engineering contractors and specialist service providers, ensuring work is completed safely, competently, and in accordance with site standards.
  • Establish and maintain technical standards, engineering procedures, and specifications for electrical systems across the site.
  • Develop asset replacement and obsolescence management plans for critical electrical infrastructure.
  • Prepare and manage departmental budgets associated with electrical compliance, asset integrity, and maintenance programmes.
  • Lead investigations into significant electrical incidents, near misses, and equipment failures, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
  • Foster a culture of electrical safety, asset care, and continuous improvement across the site.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
