Founded in 2008, Goom Electrical has grown into one of the UK's trusted providers of electrical compliance and project delivery services. Starting as a specialist electrical compliance contractor, we have built long-term partnerships with some of the UK's largest Housing Associations, NHS Trusts and educational institutions. Our core expertise is the large-scale delivery of Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs), supported by robust systems, highly skilled engineers and a proven track record of delivering quality, compliance and exceptional customer service. Alongside our compliance services, we successfully deliver complex Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) projects across the commercial, healthcare and education sectors. As we continue to grow, we're looking for an ambitious and commercially savvy Electrical Estimator to join our expanding team.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and commercially competitive estimates for electrical projects using drawings, specifications, schedules of work and site surveys.
- Review tender documentation to identify project scope, risks, exclusions and opportunities.
- Attend site visits and undertake surveys to support the preparation of accurate quotations and estimates.
- Produce detailed cost breakdowns covering labour, materials, plant and subcontractor requirements.
- Liaise with the Bid Team to provide technical and commercial support throughout the tender process, including explaining pricing assumptions and estimate build-ups where required.
- Work closely with operational teams to ensure estimates are practical, deliverable and aligned with project requirements.
- Source materials, plant and specialist services, negotiating competitive prices and favourable commercial terms.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure best value, quality and service.
- Identify alternative products, suppliers and value engineering opportunities without compromising quality or compliance.
- Assist in negotiating supplier agreements, payment terms and contract renewals where required.
- Monitor material and supplier pricing to ensure estimates remain competitive and reflect current market conditions.
- Produce monthly reports on procurement savings and commercial improvements.
- Maintain accurate estimating records, supplier quotations and pricing information to support future tenders and business development.
- Ensure all estimates are prepared in accordance with company procedures and submitted within agreed deadlines.
- Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance estimating processes, procurement efficiencies and commercial performance.

Qualifications, Education & Experience Required
Essential
- Previous experience as an Electrical Estimator within the electrical contracting or construction industry.
- Strong understanding of electrical installations, current industry practices and relevant regulations.
- Experience interpreting electrical drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
- Excellent numerical, analytical and commercial skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong negotiation skills with experience obtaining competitive quotations from suppliers.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain pricing assumptions and technical information clearly.
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Full UK driving licence.

Desirable
- Electrical qualifications (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent).
- Experience pricing Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs), remedial works and social housing contracts.
- Procurement experience within the electrical or construction industry.
- Experience using estimating software.
- Knowledge of Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) project estimating.
