Electrical Estimator – Leicester-based Opportunity

As an Electrical Estimator, you will be responsible for producing detailed, accurate, and competitive estimates across a wide range of electrical projects. Your key duties include:
- Managing tender submissions
- Reviewing technical drawings and project specifications
- Coordinating cost analysis and pricecommunications with clients
- Collaborating with suppliers and internal teams
- Ensuring the securement of new projects while supporting successful project handover

- Preparing accurate project estimates, including labour, materials, and overheads
- Analysing technical specifications, blueprints, and industry standards (BS 7671 and others)
- Negotiating with stakeholders to refine project scope and pricing
- Managing multiple tenders simultaneously, ensuring timely and legally compliant submissions
- Staying up-to-date with industry regulations and market trends
- Offering expert counsel to projects teams on cost-efficient solutions
Requirements
To excel as an Electrical Estimator, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Proven experience in electrical estimating in a contracting or construction environment
- Strong technical knowledge: expertise in electrical installations, systems, and project execution
- Ability to interpret technical plans, blueprints, and project specifications with precision
- Sound commercial awareness, with outstanding numerical, analytical, and decision-making skills
- Fluency in estimating software (e.g., Building Cost Information, Excel-based tools)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project tools)
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills for interacting with clients, suppliers, and colleagues
- Organisational skill: managing tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy and professionalism
- Electrical qualification (recommended): NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC/HND, degree-level training, or equivalent
- Preference for candidates familiar with electrical standards and industry best practices (e.g., BS 7671, electrical safety regulations)
