Electrical Estimator

Critical — Support project delivery and business growth through meticulous, competitive cost estimating for electrical installation works across manufacturing plants, utilities, and industrial environments.

The Electrical Estimator will play a strategic role in assessing project needs, anticipating risks, and crafting commercially viable tenders to ensure profitability and successful project delivery in complex industrial settings.


Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, specification documents, and tender packs for process industry projects
  • Develop detailed cost estimates encompassing power distribution, control systems, instrumentation, and cabling installations
  • Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure accurate, competitive pricing for materials and industrial equipment
  • Compile and submit comprehensive tender packages aligned with client requirements
  • Work closely with project engineers, designers, and project managers to clarify scope and resolve technical ambiguities
  • Identify value engineering opportunities while assessing commercial risks and project viability
  • Bridge the gap between tender stage and execution, ensuring cost clarity and delivery alignment
  • Stay updated on market rates, emerging technologies, and industry best practices in process and industrial sectors
  • Contribute to system optimisation by refining estimating tools, databases, and software methodologies

Essential Experience & Qualifications

✔ Proven experience in industrial/commercial electrical estimating (e.g., MCCs, control panels, ATEX/Hazards Area systems, containment engineering) ✔ Proficiency in electrical standards (e.g., BS7671, ATEX, industry regulations) ✔ Expertise in estimating software (e.g., Trimble Amtech, ConQuest or similar) ✔ Technical aptitude: Ability to interpret complex drawings, P&IDs, schemas, and professional specifications ✔ Strong commercial acumen: Analytical, problem-solving, and risk-aware approach to pricing and tendering
