Electrical Fitter

Location: Helensburgh, Argyll and Bute

Compensation: £40,967

Role Type: Full time / Permanent

Role ID: SF74470

Keep Critical Defence Infrastructure Moving

At Babcock, we’re committed to creating a safer and more secure world. This role offers you the opportunity to join our skilled team at HMNB Clyde, near Helensburgh, supporting one of the UK’s most important naval facilities.

About the Role

As an Electrical Fitter in the Shiplift Facility, your work will be vital in maintaining and enhancing the critical electrical systems underpinning UK defence operations. You’ll engage in dynamic engineering environments, refine your technical expertise, and forge a fulfilling long-term career while actively contributing to national security.

Responsibilities

As an Electrical Fitter, your primary tasks include:

  • Conducting planned preventative maintenance and nuclear-implicated work across Shiplift systems and equipment.
  • Identifying, diagnosing, and rectifying system faults, defects, and equipment issues to ensure maximum operational availability.
  • Adhering to established engineering processes while proactively suggesting improvements in performance and efficiency.
  • Working safely in compliance with health and safety legislation, safe systems of work, and control of work procedures.
  • Supporting broader maintenance activities across the facility when required.

This role is full-time, 36 hours per week, based on-site at HMNB Clyde, with fixed working hours of 07:15 to 16:45 (Monday to Thursday).

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
