The Role

As an Electrical Fitter, you’ll play a key role in maintaining and improving electrical systems across a complex and high-profile defence estate. This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same — from routine maintenance to solving complex faults, your work will directly support operational readiness and site safety.

You’ll be part of a collaborative, skilled team where your expertise is valued, and your development is supported. This role offers the opportunity to build on your technical skills while working in a dynamic environment that contributes to national security.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance on electrical systems and equipment
  • Identifying faults, defects, and required alterations to maintain performance and reliability
  • Supporting other trades and collaborating with colleagues across maintenance teams
  • Ensuring all work is completed in line with safety regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Suggesting improvements to systems and processes to enhance performance and efficiency

This is a full-time role working 36 hours per week, based on-site at HMNB Clyde.


Essential Experience

To excel in this role, you should have:

  • Demonstrated experience working with electrical systems, equipment, and maintenance processes
  • A solid understanding and application of regulations, health and safety standards, and documentation
  • Proven abilities in electrical fault-finding, repairs, and installation work
  • Experience working in controlled environments and following safe systems of work

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • SVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation, Maintenance, or an equivalent qualification (essential)
  • Experience in fire alarm systems, security systems, and CCTV, or equivalent (highly desirable)

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain a Security Check (SC) level security clearance for this role.

Your eligibility may vary based on place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and any residency held previously.
