The role

As an Electrical Fitter, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing the performance of critical combat systems that support the Royal Navy and wider defence operations. Working within a highly skilled team, you’ll carry out electrical fitting, maintenance, and inspection activities on a wide range of complex systems and equipment.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop your technical expertise in a dynamic defence and engineering environment, where your work directly contributes to operational readiness and national security. You’ll gain exposure to varied and challenging tasks, supporting your career growth while making a meaningful impact.

Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and nuclear-related electrical work to meet operational objectives
  • Identifying and rectifying system faults, defects, and required modifications across vessels and site equipment
  • Ensuring all work is completed in line with safety regulations, policies, and approved processes
  • Supporting continuous improvement by suggesting ways to enhance systems and working practices
  • Working collaboratively with engineering teams to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality outcomes

This is a full-time role working 36 hours per week based on site at HMNB Clyde.

Essential experience of the Electrical Fitter:

  • Working with electrical systems, equipment, and installation practices
  • Applying electrical regulations and safe working standards
  • Using maintenance documentation and technical drawings
  • Understanding of health and safety requirements, including COSHH
  • Experience in industries such as shipbuilding, construction, manufacturing, oil and gas, or aviation

Qualifications for the Electrical Fitter:

  • SVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Apprenticeship, or equivalent recognised trade qualification

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
