Electrical Installation Technician
Electrical Installation Technician (Aerospace) Location: Oxfordshire
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Installation Technician to join a leading aerospace engineering organisation specialising in the modification, maintenance and customisation of rotary-wing aircraft.
Working as part of a highly skilled engineering team, you will be responsible for the manufacture and installation of electrical looms, avionics systems and bespoke mission equipment on aircraft undergoing modification. This role offers exposure to unique and technically challenging projects, supporting customers ranging from defence organisations through to VIP and specialist operators. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a background in electrical engineering, vehicle electrics, aviation, marine, defence or specialist transport industries who enjoys hands-on technical work within a regulated engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities Manufacture electrical looms and avionics assemblies in accordance with engineering drawings and design data. Install electrical systems and associated equipment on aircraft under modification. Carry out repairs, modifications and rework to aircraft wiring looms and avionics systems. Work closely with design engineers to support bespoke customer modifications. Undertake workshop-based electrical assembly and fabrication activities. Remove and refit aircraft panels, cowlings and equipment as required. Support aircraft movements and general hangar activities when required. Maintain high standards of housekeeping and safety. Ensure all work is completed in accordance with aviation regulations and company procedures. Work effectively within a multi-disciplinary engineering team.

Essential Requirements Level 2 qualification (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline. Experience gained within automotive, aerospace, aviation, marine, defence, rail or other transport-related industries. Basic understanding of electrical systems and wiring principles. Experience using soldering and crimping techniques. Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, schematics or manufacturing instructions. Familiarity with electrical test equipment such as multimeters/AVOs. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Comfortable working in confined spaces when required. Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications. Full UK driving licence. Ability to provide examples or a portfolio of previous work. Desirable Experience Previous aircraft electrical installation or aviation maintenance experience. Loom building and harness manufacture. Electrical fault-finding and troubleshooting. Experience using ERP/MRO systems such as SAP. Knowledge of aviation regulations and working within highly regulated industries.

Security & Eligibility Due to the nature of the work, successful applicants will be required to undergo DBS checks and be eligible for UK Security Clearance (SC). Applicants must have the unrestricted right to work in the UK. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. There may be occasional travel within the UK and overseas, along with potential shift working requirements (with applicable shift allowance).
