Inside IR35 - £27 per hour (Umbrella)
Are you an experienced Instrumentation Technician looking for your next contract opportunity? We are seeking a skilled professional to support a leading engineering research and development facility in Peterborough, maintaining and calibrating advanced electronic control, data acquisition, and precision instrumentation systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and upgrade instrumentation panels to required specifications and standards.
- Perform electronic diagnostics using specialist test equipment and instrumentation.
- Carry out preventative maintenance (TPM) and calibration activities on test cells, associated equipment, and interface harnesses.
- Maintain, improve, and upgrade test rigs and supporting systems.
- Provide first-line breakdown support and fault diagnosis for test cells and associated equipment.
- Work with engineers, contractors, and colleagues to install, commission, and maintain new or modified equipment.
- Ensure accurate documentation of maintenance, calibration, and repair activities.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and wiring diagrams.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Technical apprenticeship (electrical/electronic discipline) or equivalent industry experience.
- Proven experience building and manufacturing instrumentation panels.
- Experience calibrating and fault-finding precision instrumentation.
- Ability to follow written work instructions and accurately document progress.
- Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical drawings.

Desirable Skills & Experience
- Multi-skilled across electrical and electronic disciplines.
- Experience working within an engine test cell environment.
- Knowledge of BS 7671 / IET 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
