Electrical Maintenance Engineer
Location: Kitts Green, Birmingham Shift Pattern: 4 on, 4 off (days and nights)
About the Role
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join a Maintenance and Engineering team within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out electrical maintenance, fault finding, and repairs to ensure maximum equipment reliability, minimise downtime, and support efficient production operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out front-line breakdown repairs and both predictive and preventative maintenance activities.
- Maintain a wide range of manufacturing machinery and site services.
- Work to planned maintenance schedules to maximise equipment performance and quality.
- Diagnose electrical faults and carry out repairs efficiently to minimise production downtime.
- Liaise with production teams regarding equipment release, downtime estimates, and maintenance completion.
- Provide effective and timely breakdown support.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
- Promote safe working practices and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work collaboratively within a flexible maintenance team.

Key Requirements
Essential
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in an Engineering discipline.
- Completed time-served engineering apprenticeship.
- Experience within a heavy engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Good understanding of PLC-controlled systems.
- Ability to interpret electrical circuit diagrams and fault find effectively.
- Knowledge of the 17th Edition Wiring Regulations (or equivalent).
- Good computer literacy.
Desirable
- Higher NVQ or HNC in Engineering.
- Experience within the metal manufacturing industry.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements in a maintenance or manufacturing environment.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- Experience operating mobile equipment such as overhead travelling cranes (EOTC) and forklift trucks (FLT).
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
- Positive, proactive attitude with a flexible approach to work.
