Power the Future of Green Energy
Are you an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician looking for a role where your skills directly contribute to a more sustainable future?
At Pretoria Energy, we're transforming organic waste into clean, renewable energy. Through advanced Anaerobic Digestion (AD), Combined Heat & Power (CHP) generation, biomethane production, and carbon capture technologies, we help reduce carbon emissions while producing sustainable energy for homes, businesses, and the national grid.
As our business continues to expand, we're looking for a skilled and motivated Electrical Maintenance Technician to join our growing in-house Engineering Team.
This is an opportunity to work at the heart of a rapidly evolving industry, supporting critical renewable energy infrastructure while developing your career in one of the UK's fastest-growing sectors.
About the Electrical Maintenance Technician role:
Reporting directly to the Head of Electrical, you'll play a vital role in maintaining and improving the electrical systems that keep our AD plants operating safely and efficiently.
This is a highly varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same.
You'll be involved in everything from planned preventative maintenance and fault-finding to installations, testing, inspections, and breakdown response across multiple renewable energy technologies.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

- Modifying and maintaining control panels.
- Supporting plant breakdown investigations and ensuring equipment is returned to service quickly and safely.
- Working on motors, drives, instrumentation, control systems, and process equipment.
- Conducting fault-finding on 3-phase electrical systems and safety circuits.
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records using company logging systems.
- Supporting mechanical maintenance activities where required.
- Adhering to all Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures.
