Job Description
Primary Role
The safe and efficient maintenance, fault diagnosis & rectification of the site electrical infrastructure, paper manufacturing equipment & power plant systems. That may include but not limited to:
- HV & LV electrical systems, cables switchgear & circuit protection
- Motors, drives, servos & MCCs
- Instrumentation & control systems
- Safety instrumented systems & emergency shutdown systems
- PLCs & DCS systems
- Lighting heating & power
- Paper specific manufacturing technologies (web inspection systems for example)

Electrical Maintenance Technician: Primary Responsibilities
- Apply legal norms and group policy in matters relating to Quality, Security and Environment & Comply with Safety, Quality and Environmental regulations
- Promote HSE practices and rules at the mill, ensure risk assessment and safe operation procedures followed and respected within own responsibility area & participate HSE investigations, when required
- Be actively responsible for setting the standards with respect to general housekeeping & up keep of the plant
- Working with permit to work systems & risk assessments & method statement
- Observance of electrical standards & ensuring regulatory compliance
- Execution of planned & reactive maintenance for the respective production areas: paper machine, stock preparation & energy utilities
- Fault identification & rectification. Fault finding on electrical distribution, motor control, & instrumented systems
- Inspection & testing of electrical circuits
- Follow the maintenance work flow using the Saica CMMS (MAXIMO) to ensure plant defects & preventative maintenance plans are efficiently effected
- Following up on repeat defects & identifying improvement opportunities
- Supporting production and maintenance activities to reach Key Performance Indicators and other targets set
- Problem Solve
- Assist, where required the Shift Operations team on returning the plant to service following a plant trip, black-out or malfunction
- The ability to deputise for other members of the electrical maintenance department as requested
- The ability to coach,
