Role Overview
We are looking for an AEM (Automated Equipment Mechanic) to support the Synthetic Chemicals team in Rochester, NY.
As an Automated Equipment Mechanic, you will have the following responsibilities:
- AEM skilled trade to provide multi-discipline capability to repair, maintain, install, and make improvements to chemical processing equipment and machinery (includes pneumatics, hydraulics, controls (PLC’s), and electrical components)
- Ability to fabricate to exact tolerances using lathes, drill presses, grinders, and other shop equipment
- Some experience or expertise in piping, HVAC equipment, and controls
- Ability to achieve a high level of expertise of chemical process equipment for effective troubleshooting and equipment repair
- Execute preventive maintenance program
- Calibrate, alignment, and make adjustments with test equipment and production equipment
- Initial (training) assignment is Mon. – Fri., 8 hour days (40 hours/week) Longer term could possibly be 24/7 coverage (Fireman’s rotation - two 12 hour days, two 12 hour nights, 4 days rest)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and maintenance software tools.

Qualifications:
- HS diploma
- Formal instrumentation, electrical, mechanical, and/or AEM training and demonstrated experience
- Mechanical equipment repair training and/or demonstrated experience: pumps, mechanical seals, agitators, gear boxes, fans (bearings, sheaves), alignment
- Demonstrate effective analytical troubleshooting skills
- Able to read electrical, instrument, and machine drawings
- Able to read PLC programs to troubleshoot equipment problems
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
- Excellent safety record – places safety and environment as top priority in all work
- Knowledge of Lock Out / Tag Out
- Understanding of electrical codes for hazardous environments (flammable liquids)
- Good communication skills – daily communications with maintenance planner, technical staff, and operations as needed.
- Good team player – willing to be flexible, work in other areas, and with other trades as needed.

Minimum Education Level and Experience:
- 2-year schooling and/or 5 plus years of demonstrated experience
