Electrical Project Engineer
Location – Brighton (based in or around South East England, with travel across multiple sites/projects in the region)
About the Role
Are you an experienced Electrical Project Engineer looking for your next challenge? Join Galliford Try’s Environmental Business and play a key role in delivering essential infrastructure projects that make a real difference to communities.
Based in or around South East England, you’ll work across multiple sites and projects, primarily within the water industry (covering sewage and clean water schemes). Reporting to the Project Manager, you’ll collaborate with a dedicated project delivery team to ensure design, procurement, financial control, and site activities are completed to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead electrical engineering from concept through to completion, utilising in-house resources and site teams.
- Deliver Non-Infra M&E projects within the water sector.
- Manage design processes, liaising with clients and internal teams.
- Conduct early site investigations and coordinate with stakeholders.
- Prepare and review health & safety documentation (e.g., RAMS, project plans).
- Procure materials and manage supplier/subcontractor relationships.
- Attend and oversee factory/site testing, commissioning, and client training.
- Participate in design reviews and hazard studies to develop optimal solutions.
- Monitor budgets, assist with cost reviews, and manage variation claims.
- Ensure quality and compliance through inspection and test plans.
- Drive innovation while maintaining adherence to industry standards.
- Prepare and manage project programmes and documentation (e.g., as-built drawings, O&M manuals).
- Champion health & safety and maintain high performance standards.

About You: Essential Requirements
Experience & Skills
- Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Strong commercial and contractual awareness.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Organised, proactive, and passionate about delivering excellence.
- Flexible, resilient, and capable of influencing at all levels.
- A self-starter with a can-do attitude and commitment to teamwork.
- Knowledge of NEC suite of contracts, CDM, ATEX, and DSEAR (desirable but not essential).
Qualifications & Certifications (Essential)
- Industry-applicable electrical qualification (ONC/HNC/B.Eng or NVQ equivalent).
- BS7671 (18th Edition) certification.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Certifications
(Applicants without these can discuss eligibility for support to achieve them)
- CSCS/ECS Card
- EUSR National Water Hygiene Card
- SMSTS
- First Aid at Work
- City & Guilds Authorised Person Module
- Experience in the water industry or Non-Infra projects (advantageous but not mandatory).
