Senior Authorised Person (SAP)
Location: Various Project Sites – Europe
Reports to: Senior Authorised Person / Control Engineer

Role Overview
As a Senior Authorised Person (SAP), you will enforce safety protocols for work on electrical networks, including:
- Authorising Switching, isolations, and equipment servicing.
- Preparing, issuing, and managing Safety Documents (e.g., LVPTW, LOA, HVPTW, SFTs).
- Supervising switching operations and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Core Tasks
- Execute switching operations within your authorised scope.
- Apply isolations and safety measures per written procedures.
- Prepare, issue, and cancel Safety Authorisation Documents legally.
- Write Switching Schedules for systems.

Supervisory & Leadership
- Oversee Competent Persons (CPs) and work teams during electrical tasks.
- Conduct Prove Dead procedures prior to commencement.
- Clearly demarcate work zones to prevent unauthorised access.
Collaboration & Reporting
- Liaise with Control Engineers for system release/restauration.
- Escalate hazards, defects, and issues to Control Engineers.
- Lead HV/LV isolations, earthing procedures, and re-energisation.
Documentation & Audits
- Confirm system readiness for energisation and sign-off on project documentation.
- Mentor Authorised Persons and Competent Persons.
- Assist Authorising Engineers in training future SAP candidates.
Specialised Commissioning
- Collaborate with engineering and testing teams during commissioning.
- Conduct energisation readiness reviews and Power On Request sign-offs.
Safety Compliance
- Perform routine audits and toolbox talks to ensure adherence to protocols.
- Maintain logging of activities, tools, and safety and system documentation.

Requirements
Experience & Certifications
- Extensive experience in HV/LV networks.
- Valid SAP appointment by an Authorising Engineer.
- Expertise in switching schedules, isolation protocols, and safety regulations (e.g., EN 50110-1).
Skills
- Proven supervisory, leadership, and management abilities.
- Strong understanding of operational safety documentation and British Standards.
Qualifications
- Official qualification in electrical engineering or equivalent industrial experience.
