Electrical Supervisor

Electrical Supervisor – 3 Month Contract in Norwich

Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for an Electrical Supervisor on a 3-month contract based in Norwich.

Role Summary

Rubicon Consulting is hiring an experienced Electrical Supervisor to join a major HVDC project in Norwich. This is an exciting opportunity for a supervisor with a strong background in high-voltage electrical installation and testing, working alongside experienced site teams on a live HVDC converter station/substation package as part of the UK’s transmission infrastructure programme.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide daily electrical supervision across the HVDC site, ensuring:
    • Safe, on-programme delivery
    • High-quality work in accordance with standards
  • Supervise electrical installation, testing, and commissioning of HV/HVDC plant and equipment
  • Manage and coordinate site electrical labour, including direct workforce and subcontractors
  • Ensure compliance with:
    • Client safety rules
    • RAMS (Risk Assessment Method Statements)
    • Relevant electrical safety regulations
  • Liaise with:
    • Project Manager
    • Site Manager
    • Client representatives on:
      • Progress
      • Resourcing
      • Technical issues
  • Conduct site inspections, toolbox talks, and safety briefings
  • Monitor and enforce permit-to-work systems and safe isolation procedures
  • Assist in resolving technical queries and coordinate with design/engineering teams
  • Maintain accurate site records, including:
    • Daily reports
    • Inspection records
    • Test documentation

Essential

  • Proven experience as an Electrical Supervisor on HV/HVDC or major power transmission projects
  • SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) qualification
  • Valid CSCS card
  • First Aid at Work certification
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • HV electrical installation
    • Testing and commissioning processes
  • Deep understanding of:
    • Site safety rules
    • Permit-to-work systems
    • Safe isolation procedures
  • Ability to effectively manage site labour and subcontractors
  • Contract must be operated through a limited company (outside IR35)

Desirable

  • Previous experience on HVDC converter station projects
  • Experience working within National Grid, SSEN, or equivalent transmission client frameworks
  • Relevant electrical qualifications, such as:
    • NVQ Level 3 Electrical
    • ECS/JIB Gold Card
