Electrical Supervisor - 12-18 Month Contract

Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for an Electrical Supervisor on a 12-18 month contract based in Oxfordshire.

Role Summary

  • Supervise electrical installation works on National Grid substations.
  • Manage subcontractors and direct labour on site.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with project specifications, drawings, and National Grid procedures.
  • Conduct daily briefings, toolbox talks, and safety inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE legislation and company policies.
  • Review RAMS and ensure safe systems of work are implemented.
  • Coordinate with Site Managers, Engineers, and Commissioning teams.
  • Monitor progress, quality, and productivity on site.
  • Complete site documentation, reports, and inspection records.
  • Assist with planning and resolving technical/site issues.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an Electrical Supervisor on National Grid transmission or HV substation projects.
  • Strong understanding of electrical installation practices within 132kV–400kV substations.
  • SMSTS or SSSTS.
  • ECS Gold Card (or equivalent electrical qualification).
  • National Grid Persons certification (essential).
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.

  • National Grid Competent Person (CP) authorisation.
  • First Aid at Work.
  • Temporary Works Supervisor.
  • Experience with protection & control installations.
  • Previous experience on AIS and GIS substations.
