About the Role

Riverside Property Services manages repairs and maintenance for over 24,000 properties across London, the Southeast, and Home Counties. The role involves ensuring the highest levels of electrical safety and compliance, including inspections of installations, alternative technologies systems, and works undertaken by contractors, field electrical teams, and trades.

You will verify compliance with:

  • Statutory regulations
  • BS 7671 standards
  • NICEIC standards
  • Riverside’s internal quality policies

This role is critical to maintaining safety standards and safeguarding residents and properties.


About You

Essential Requirements

  • NICEIC Registration (Eligible for Qualifying Supervisor status)
  • City and Guilds 2391 (Inspection and Testing) or equivalent
  • Level 3 NVQ in Electrotechnical Services or equivalent
  • City and Guilds 2382-22 (BS 7671 latest edition) or equivalent
  • Competent in Part P electrical regulations
  • Proven experience in EICR activities, installations, rewires, voids, refurbishments, PPM, and repairs
  • Strong understanding of electrical regulations and BS 7671
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational skills (time management, planning)
  • Proficiency in IT systems (e.g., Microsoft Office, auditing software)
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable Additional Qualifications

  • Proven track record in mixed-economy DLO/contractor social housing management
  • Health & Safety qualifications (IOSH, SMSTS, SSSTS)
  • Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) in Solar PV, Battery Storage, Wind Turbines, or CHP
  • Level 4 Certificate in Electrical Safety Management in Social Housing
  • Professional Membership (e.g., IET)

Role Profile: Key Responsibilities

Primary Purpose

Ensure 100% electrical safety compliance across Riverside’s housing stock to protect residents and properties.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Safety Compliance

  • Oversee EICRs, installation, rewires, voids, refurbishments, and repairs to align with latest electrical legislation and Riverside policies.

Technical Quality Auditing

  • Plan and execute regular quality control audits on completed electrical works.
  • Check on-site workmanship, certification documentation, and compliance with industry standards.

Contractor & Team Management

  • Monitor in-house and external contractors, ensuring safe and high-quality work.
  • Provide feedback, coaching, or corrective actions where standards are not met.

Reporting & Accountability

  • Document inspection findings and compliance issues in detailed reports.
  • Identify trends in non-compliance and propose process improvements or training interventions.

Best Practice Promotion

  • Act as the technical expert in electrical compliance and safety.
  • Stay updated on regulations and emerging standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement in electrical maintenance programs.

Key Tasks

  • Conduct inspections, testing, and certification of electrical installations.
  • Perform EICR reviews, quality checks, and random post-service inspections.
  • Write clear audit reports on defects and remedial actions.
  • Liaise with contractors and in-house electricians on improvements.
  • Monitor compliance performance and update management.
  • Assist in safety policy reviews and training initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Alarm (Amendment) Regulations 2022.
  • Investigate and resolve resident complaints and service failings.
  • Participate in resident meetings and out-of-hours response rotas.
