Permanent – £48,551.00 per annum Full Time (40 hours), Monday to Friday Camden, London

About the Role
The Electrical Technical Inspector ensures electrical safety and statutory compliance across Riverside’s 24,000+ properties in London, Southeast, and Home Counties.
You will:
- Conduct technical inspections and compliance audits in electrical installations, including alternative energy systems (e.g., solar PV, battery storage).
- Inspect works by in-house contractors, field electrical teams, and associated trades.
- Verify that all projects meet BS 7671 (latest edition) and NICEIC standards, safeguarding our residents and properties.
- Audit EICRs, repairs, voids, refurbishments, and planned preventive maintenance (PPM) for safety and compliance.
- Ensure 100% electrical certification compliance across.Rowsiverside’s portfolio.
Responsibilities
Core Duties
- Ensure electrical safety compliance – verify all electrical works (EICRs, rewires, repairs, PPM) align with regulations, laws, and Riverside policies.
- Technical Quality Auditing – conduct regular on-site audits, review certification records, and ensure workmanship meets standards.
- Contractor & Team Support – monitor in-house electricians and external contractors, provide feedback, and enforce safety/quality standards.
- Reporting & Accountability – document findings in detailed reports, identify trends, and recommend process improvements.
- Drive Best Practices – stay updated on industry regulations, share technical knowledge, and promote continuous improvements.

Key Tasks
- Carry out inspections & certifications (EICRs, installations, repairs).
- Audit EICRs, communal areas, and plantroom work.
- Conduct random quality checks post-service/repair.
- Produce defect reports and liaise with contractors/electricians on remediation.
- Investigate & resolve complaints (both informal/formal) and ensure customer service standards.
- Represent Riverside at residents’ meetings.
- Participate in regular out-of-hours repair duties (shift rota).
Requirements
Essential
✔ NICEIC Registration (Electrical Qualifying Supervisor eligibility) ✔ City & Guilds 2391 (Inspection & Testing) or equivalent ✔ Level 3 NVQ in Electrotechnical Services ✔ City & Guilds 2382-22 (BS 7671 Latest Edition) ✔ Part P certification ✔ Proven experience in EICR/rewire/repair activities ✔ Strong grasp of electrical regulations & BS 7671 ✔ Excellent diagnostic & problem-solving skills ✔ Strong communication & interpersonal skills ✔ Effective time management, planning & organisation ✔ Proficient in IT systems (MS Office, auditing software) ✔ Full UK Driving License

➤ Background in a mixed-economy DLO/contractor/ social housing context ➤ Health & Safety qualifications (IOSH/SMSTS/SSSTS) ➤ Microgeneration Certification (MCS) in Solar PV/Battery/Wind/CHP ➤ Level 4 Electrical Safety Management in Social Housing ➤ Professional IET membership
