Electrical Technical (Design) Manager
Major Building Projects | London
£80,000 to £95,000 + Package
Are you an experienced Electrical Design or Technical Manager looking to work on some of the UK's most complex and technically challenging construction projects?
Our client is a leading international main contractor with an outstanding reputation for delivering major projects across healthcare, residential, education, life sciences, and data centres. As part of their continued growth, they are looking to appoint an Electrical Technical Manager to lead the electrical design and engineering delivery across a portfolio of high-value projects throughout London and the South East.
Working within a specialist MEP team, you'll play a key role in driving design quality, technical excellence, and innovation from preconstruction through to project completion. This is an excellent opportunity to influence major projects valued between £5m and £130m while working alongside some of the industry's leading consultants and technical specialists.
The Role
Reporting into the MEP Technical Director, you will take ownership of the electrical design and technical engineering aspects of multiple projects, ensuring designs are coordinated, compliant, and delivered to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Leading the electrical design management process from preconstruction through delivery.
- Acting as the electrical technical authority across allocated projects.
- Managing relationships with clients, consultants, BIM coordinators, and specialist subcontractors.
- Carrying out detailed design reviews and ensuring technical compliance.
- Managing technical risks, value engineering opportunities, and design optimization.
- Preparing and managing consultant appointments.
- Providing technical leadership, mentoring, and support to engineers and project teams.
- Reviewing major equipment selections and technical submissions.
- Supporting site teams by validating installations against the design intent.
- Providing technical troubleshooting throughout project delivery.
- Promoting best practice in design, health and safety, and CDM compliance.

About You
You'll have a strong background within building services design, electrical engineering, or technical management, together with experience delivering complex building projects.
You'll ideally have:
- Significant experience within a design consultancy or technical/design management role.
- Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering or Building Services, or equivalent industry experience.
- Chartered status (or working towards) with CIBSE, IET, or a similar professional body.
- Experience leading electrical design on projects valued in excess of £50m.
- Strong understanding of the RIBA Plan of Work and BSRIA design stages.
- Excellent technical knowledge of modern electrical building services systems.
- Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to coordinate multiple consultants and project teams across several live projects.
