Electrical Technician
Temporary
Electrical Technician - Clean Energy Systems
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Pay: £23.05 per hour (PAYE)
Shift Pattern: 2-Shift Rotation (Earlies / Lates)
Contract: Long-term temporary contract (3+ years)
We are looking for experienced Electrical Technicians to join our client in Newcastle. In this role, you will be at the forefront of sustainable technology, hands-on building, wiring, and testing the complex electrical systems and control panels that power our advanced hydrogen energy units.
What You'll Do
- Day-to-Day Precision Assembly: Build, wire, and integrate electrical control panels, sub-assemblies, and power distribution systems.
- Schematic Interpretation: Read and translate complex electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical layouts into physical builds.
- Wiring & Containment: Run point-to-point wiring, perform high-standard terminations, and install neat cable containment systems (including conduit, trunking, and trays).
- Testing & Quality Assurance: Conduct essential electrical diagnostics, including continuity, functional checks, and insulation resistance testing.
- System Integration: Assist in connecting critical components such as PLCs, sensors, and power systems.
- Safety & Compliance: Maintain an immaculate workspace and strictly adhere to specialised safety protocols required for hydrogen-related technology.
What We Are Looking For
To succeed in this role, you must bring a strong blend of technical expertise and a safety-first mindset.
- Qualifications: An NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering/ Apprenticeship trained is essential.
- Experience: Proven track record in panel wiring, electrical fitting, or working as an industrial electrical technician.
- Technical Skills: Confident reading electrical schematics, utilising electrical test equipment, and working with industrial components (PLCs, relays, breakers, contactors).
- Mindset: Exceptional attention to detail, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to collaborate seamlessly in a multidisciplinary team.
- Safety Conscious: Fully committed to adhering to company H&S policies, participating in risk assessments, and wearing appropriate PPE-especially in environments involving hydrogen systems.

- Based in a clean, structured workshop/manufacturing facility.
- The role involves physical activity, including standing for long periods and occasional lifting of components.
- Overtime opportunities may be available depending on production schedules.
