Salary
£43,704 – £51,484 pa (dependent on skills/experience)

About the Role
Medway Power Station are seeking an Electrical Technician to join our maintenance team. This is a critical role ensuring the reliability of thermal energy generation as part of SSE’s flexible, essential power portfolio.
Reporting to the Daywork Support Engineer, your work will be key to maintaining electrical apparatus and equipment to the highest standards, driving maximum plant efficiency and availability.
Core Responsibilities
- Conduct both planned and emergent works on all electrical assets at Medway Power Station, adhering to Safe Systems of Work.
- Produce Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and Safety Plans to ensure safe work practices.
- Manage plant breakdown maintenance, supervising contractors where needed.
- Diagnose faults, identify potential improvements, and enhance plant reliability and efficiency.
- Actively promote SSE’s safety culture to ensure all team members return home safely daily.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- A time-served Electrical Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification, with experience in an industrial environment.
- Knowledge/experience in combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant maintenance, or comparable skills from another process industry.
- A strong understanding of Health and Safety regulations; IOSH or NEBOSH certifications preferred.
Desirable
- Electrical qualifications, including:
- City & Guilds 2391 (Periodic Inspection and Testing)
- C&G 2382 (BS7671 Wiring Regulations)
- Proven experience with:
- HV/LV switchgear
- AC/DC motors
- Motorised actuators and starters
- Power transformers
