Skycutter is a UK-based developer and manufacturer of advanced small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS) for commercial and defence applications. The company combines hydrogen fuel cells, high-energy density batteries, and ultra-efficient propulsion systems to achieve multi-rotor flight times of more than three hours. Skycutter integrates specialist payloads such as LiDAR, bathymetric sensors, GPR, cameras, and custom delivery systems to meet specific client requirements. The multidisciplinary team includes aircraft design engineers, fuel cell experts, electrical and software engineers, and test pilots, all focused on safety, usability, and high performance. Team members collaborate closely with customers to enable reliable, cutting-edge UAV services.
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Electrical Technician role based in Loughborough. The Electrical Technician will support the assembly, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems on advanced sUAS platforms, including power distribution, control wiring, and integration of specialist payloads. Daily responsibilities include performing routine electrical maintenance, conducting inspections and diagnostics, troubleshooting issues, and carrying out repairs on electrical equipment and components. The role involves working from technical drawings and schematics, supporting test and validation activities, and documenting work performed to meet safety and quality standards. The Electrical Technician will collaborate with engineers and other team members to improve reliability, optimize performance, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and internal procedures.

- Candidates should possess strong Electrical Maintenance and Troubleshooting skills for complex UAV and associated support equipment.
- Candidates should possess solid knowledge of Electricity principles and practical Electrical Engineering fundamentals relevant to low-voltage.
- Candidates should possess hands-on experience working with Electrical Equipment, including soldering, installation, inspection, testing, and repair.
- Relevant vocational qualification or apprenticeship in electrical engineering or a closely related field; higher-level technical training or certification is an advantage.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation, with strong attention to detail and safety.
- Experience in aerospace, UAV, robotics, or similar high-technology environments is beneficial.
- Good communication skills, ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
