Electrical Technician

Location: East London

Rate: £39.29 per hour (Umbrella)

Contract: 6-month rolling contract


We are seeking an experienced Electrical Technician to join a specialist marine engineering team maintaining vessels and associated shoreside infrastructure. This is a hands-on role focused on electrical maintenance, fault finding, and ensuring the safe, reliable operation of a busy ferry service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance and inspections.
  • Diagnose, fault-find, and repair electrical and electronic systems.
  • Maintain vessel power systems, switchboards, and docking infrastructure.
  • Support PLC and control system troubleshooting.
  • Complete maintenance records and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Essential Requirements

  • Level 2 Electrical NVQ (or equivalent).
  • Experience working in a marine or maritime electrical environment.
  • Strong electrical maintenance, diagnostics, and fault-finding skills.
  • Knowledge of marine electrical and electronic power systems.
  • Good understanding of electrical safety and risk management.

Desirable

  • Electrical Technical Officer (ETO) experience.
  • PLC troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of DC switchboards, converter drives, and marine electrical standards.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a skilled engineering team supporting a critical transport operation on a long-term rolling contract.
