Electrical Technician LV AP

Equans is a renowned energies & services contractor and a proud member of the Bouygues global industrial group. Our expertise spans the design, construction, and maintenance of buildings and critical infrastructure worldwide.

We have a great opportunity for an AP LV Electrical Technician to support the commissioning team in testing, troubleshooting and the verification of system operation.

We design, install, commission and operate large scale solar PV farms and BESS projects for our clients. Supplying renewable energy from solar power plants that enables local communities to reduce costs and reduce their carbon footprint.

Alongside our solar farm projects we are involved in delivering a wide range of energy solutions to secure a more sustainable future.

Please note that when working away from home you will be provided with hotel accommodation and additional expenses whilst working away. The postholder will also have access to a company vehicle.

Key activities

To act as an LV Authorised Person in order to ensure adherence with the company’s Electrical Safety Rules on live sites, i.e. mobile role across several projects. To cooperate with relevant subcontractors, in order to ensure a high standard of quality of works. To follow up with subcontractor installation and testing progress and update site progress tracker. To manage snagging items and to identify, diagnose and resolve faults when electrical in nature and scope. To support the commissioning team in testing, troubleshooting and verification of system operation. Occasionally install, test, commission electrical systems for the company’s renewable energy business unit. To use and operate relevant equipment proficiently as required. To review and prepare Risk Assessment Matrix related to electrical installation works. When appropriate join or manage tool box talks on site and contribute to raise awareness of our site teams (staff and sub-contractors) to the specific risks to electrical systems, especially on solar farms or other projects where solar modules are installed. To keep up to date with the latest applicable Standards. To fulfil Health & Safety responsibilities by adherence to the requirements of the Company's Health & Safety Policy and Health & Safety Management Plans.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

Authorised Person training centre certificate 18th edition BS 7671. NVQ level 3 electrical installations, level 3 installation electrical and maintenance apprenticeship. Driver’s license and ability to travel to sites. SMSTS desirable but if candidate does not have should not prevent application as can be undertaken as a 5 day course. Experience in the installation, management, testing commissioning and fault diagnosis and remediation of electrical systems both AC and DC. Solid experience working on AC/DC electrical systems. First aid at work. Computer literacy. Flexible working attitude as this role will involve overnight stays.
