We are seeking an experienced Electrical Tutor to join our growing team and contribute to our mission of empowering learners through engaging and technically rigorous training.
The Role
As an Electrical Tutor, you will be responsible for delivering theoretical and practical training across our electrical apprenticeship programmes, including:
- Engineering maintenance technician qualification
- Level 3 single and dual discipline apprenticeships
- Commercial short courses
Your core focus is supporting learners in achieving their qualifications and securing skilled employment.
Key Responsibilities
- Teaching & Training:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality classroom and practical workshop sessions covering electrical installation, testing, and maintenance.
- Teach for commercial short courses, including those for 18th Edition, Inspection & Testing, and PAT Testing.
- Assessment & Support:
- Assess learner progress against apprenticeship standards and qualification criteria, providing constructive feedback.
- Prepare learners for End Point Assessment and external examinations.
- Administrative & Compliance:
- Maintain accurate learner records, tracking progress, attendance, and achievement in line with awarding body and funding requirements.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety, safeguarding, and the Prevent duty.
- Stay updated with changes in wiring regulations (BS 7671) and industry standards, embedding them into course content.
- Diversity & Employer Engagement:
- Support learners with additional needs through inclusive teaching practices.
- Build and maintain strong ties with employers to ensure curriculum relevance.
- Curriculum & Development:
- Contribute to curriculum development, resource creation, and continuous improvement.

What We’re Looking For
Essential Requirements
- Current 18th Edition (BS 7671) qualification
- Recognised electrical qualification, such as:
- NVQ Level 3 Electrotechnical
- City & Guilds 2365/2360 (or equivalent equivalent)
- Substantial industry experience as a qualified electrician
- Teaching/training qualification, or a commitment to pursuing one:
- Level 3 AET (Assessment of Practical Competence)
- Level 5 DET (Recognised Guided Learning Hours)
- Comprehensive knowledge of current wiring regulations and industry standards
- Excellent communication skills to engage and motivate learners of varying abilities
- Strong organisational skills and proficiency with:
- Microsoft Office
- Learner management systems

Desirable Qualifications/Experience
- Assessor qualification (e.g., TAQA, A1/CAVA)
- Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) qualification (e.g., DQA/V1)
- Familiarity with apprenticeship standards and End Point Assessment Organisations
- Inspection & Testing qualification (C&G 2391 or equivalent)
- Experience delivering commercial/CPD short courses
- A full UK driving licence (if site visits are required)
Additional Note: All shortlisted candidates will undergo an Enhanced DBS check.
