Monday to Friday, with occasional evening, weekend and site-based work where required
About the Role
Teach A Trade is a growing technical training provider delivering electrical, gas, renewable-energy, refrigeration and building-services qualifications from our training centre in Telford.
We are looking for an experienced Electrical Tutor and Assessor to join our electrical delivery team.
The successful candidate will deliver high-quality classroom and practical training, assess learners completing vocational qualifications and support apprentices, adult learners and experienced workers through their programmes.
This role would suit an experienced electrical trainer or assessor, or a qualified electrician with assessment experience who is looking to move further into technical education.
Courses and Qualifications
Depending on experience and competence, the role may include delivery and assessment across:
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- Electrical Inspection and Testing.
- Level 2 and Level 3 Electrical Installation qualifications.
- Level 3 Electrical Installation NVQs.
- Experienced Worker Assessment routes.
- Solar PV installation.
- Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment.
- Electrical Energy Storage Systems.
- Renewable-energy and environmental technology qualifications.
- AM2 preparation.
- Employer-specific electrical training programmes.
Candidates are not expected to be competent in every area from day one. Training and development can be provided for the right applicant.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging classroom and practical electrical training.
- Assess learners against qualification and awarding-body requirements.
- Support learners completing NVQ portfolios and Experienced Worker Assessments.
- Conduct practical observations, professional discussions and knowledge assessments.
- Carry out workplace and site visits where required.
- Provide clear and constructive feedback to learners.
- Monitor learner progress, attendance, achievement and completion.
- Maintain accurate assessment and learner records.
- Ensure assessment decisions are valid, fair, consistent and properly evidenced.
- Work closely with internal quality assurers and respond to sampling feedback.
- Participate in standardisation meetings and ongoing professional development.
- Prepare workshops, training rigs, tools and learning resources.
- Ensure training and assessment activities are delivered safely.
- Support the development of new electrical and renewable-energy courses.
- Maintain current technical knowledge and occupational competence.
- Contribute positively to the wider Teach A Trade delivery team.

Essential Requirements
Applicants must have:
- A Level 3 Electrical Installation NVQ or recognised equivalent.
- Significant occupational experience as a qualified electrician.
- A recognised assessor qualification, such as A1, D32/D33, CAVA or TAQA.
- Current knowledge of electrical installation and industry standards.
- Experience assessing electrical qualifications, portfolios or workplace competence.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- The ability to support learners with different levels of experience and ability.
- Good IT skills and the ability to maintain accurate electronic records.
- A full UK driving licence.
Desirable Requirements
The following would be advantageous but are not essential:
- A recognised teaching qualification.
- An Internal Quality Assurance qualification, such as V1, D34 or Level 4 IQA.
- Experience delivering electrical qualifications within a college or independent training provider.
- Inspection and Testing qualifications.
- Current 18th Edition qualification.
- Solar PV, EV Charging or EESS qualifications.
- Experience assessing Level 3 NVQ portfolios.
- Experience with Experienced Worker Assessment routes.
- AM2 assessment or preparation experience.
- Experience working with City & Guilds, EAL, NICEIC or other awarding organisations.
- Experience delivering funded training or Skills Bootcamps.
