Installation and Maintenance Electrician Tutor
Location: JTL Training Centre, Preston Working Pattern/Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week Salary: Up to £45,500, depending on skills and experience

Responsibilities
As an Electrical Tutor, you will:
- Deliver high-quality teaching for the Level 3 Installation and Maintenance Electrician apprenticeship programme.
- Use subject expertise to explain concepts clearly and build on apprentices’ knowledge, ensuring lessons are logical and support long-term learning.
- Blend theoretical and practical electrical training to enable apprentices to apply their skills in real-world scenarios.
- Use varied assessment methods to monitor progress, identify misunderstandings, and adapt teaching methods to ensure all learners advance.

Support apprentices holistically
- Provide constructive feedback to help them refine skills, consolidate learning, and achieve their best outcomes.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and assessments, and collaborate with Training Officers to ensure cohesive support.
- Embed employability skills, British values, equality and diversity, safeguarding, and health and safety in teaching.
- Foster a calm, safe, inclusive environment where expectations for behaviour, attendance, and punctuality are consistently upheld.

Promote safety and personal growth
- Take responsibility for safeguarding apprentice welfare and ensuring health and safety in both classrooms and workshops.
- Build apprentices’ confidence, resilience, and professional values, preparing them for successful careers.

Collaborate and stay current
- Support curriculum development by sharing best practices and contributing to innovative teaching methods.
- Keep technical knowledge and teaching skills current through continuous professional development (CPD).
- Engage with industry events and employer feedback to ensure training aligns with modern standards.
Requirements
Essential
✔ Level 3 electrical qualification (or equivalent), with demonstrated technical expertise and industry experience. ✔ GCSE/O-Level Maths and English (grades A–C, 9–4) or Level 2 equivalent. ✔ Excellent communication, presentation, and IT skills. ✔ Commitment to ongoing professional development.
Desirable
🔹 Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) or equivalent teaching qualification, or willingness to obtain this. 🔹 Health & Safety certification (e.g., IOSH Managing Safely). 🔹 Assessor qualifications (D32, D33, A1): TAQA). 🔯 Internal Verifier qualifications (D34, V1, TAQA).
