Senior Electrician – Full-time (Following Initial Trial Period)
About the Business
MAD is a small local business based in Acomb, York, specialising in electrical work. Our focus is on domestic customers, but we also carry out rental/holiday let work, light commercial projects, and one-off assignments for other local businesses.

About the Role
We’re expanding our highly skilled team and are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic electrician to join us. The work varies from mentioned projects—such as upgrading light fittings, troubleshooting faults, to larger-scale installations like extensions, rewires, and new builds—with the occasional project further afield.
Key Areas of Focus:
- Modern electrical installations including EV charge points, solar panels, and battery storage systems
- A mix of fast-paced domestic work and strategic one-off projects
- Adaptability in handling both teamwork and independent action
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality electrical installations and maintenance, adhering to unwavering standards
- Carry out diagnostics, installations, and upgrades (light fittings, rewires, room extensions)
- Undertake EV charge points, solar panel, and battery storage installations where applicable
- Ensure a professional, fast-paced customer service approach
- Embrace Health and Safety at all times, promoting best practices in a safety-conscious environment
- Contribute to training, support, and maintaining team cohesiveness
- Occasionally, work away from home where projects dictate

Requirements
Qualifications & Certification
✔ Fully qualified electrician to 18th Edition Wiring Regulations ✔ 2391 Inspection & Testing qualification (advantageous) ✔ Full UK driving licence (essential for accessing sites/work locations)
Personality & Work Ethic
✔ Experienced primarily in domestic electrical work, with a can-do attitude ✔ Punctual, reliable, and professional with impeccable timekeeping ✔ Dedicated to high standards of electrical workmanship ✔ Level-headed, patient, and problem-solving ✔ Happy working independently and collaboratively, aligning with a see it, say it, fix it culture ✔ Enthusiastic, friendly, and results-driven with excellent communication
Key Technical Skills
✔ Expertise across multiple electrical systems, including:
- Traditional and renewable energy (solar, battery, EV charge points) ✔ ADAS-compliant health and safety practices ✔ Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding capabilities ✔ Ability to read drawings/blueprints and interpret job specifications

Preferences (Plus Points)
- Experience in EV Charge Point installation & renewable energy systems (solar/battery storage)
