Electrician (Highways Electrical) - Area 10

Are you ready to make a tangible impact on the UK's strategic road network? We’re recruiting for an Electrician (Highways Electrical) to join our dynamic Area 10 team, where engineering meets critical infrastructure.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on the installation, maintenance, and repair of highways electrical assets across the network. From street lighting and signage to feeder pillars and fault diagnostics, you’ll be at the forefront of keeping our roads safe, efficient, and operational.

The primary depot for this position is Hale, Wilmslow Roundabout (WA15 8XL). The role will require travel across the network as needed.

This position offers a competitive salary with overtime and call-out rota payments available.

The working pattern is 2 weeks days / 2 weeks nights, with participation in an emergency call-out rota.

What You’ll Do

  • Carrying out installation, maintenance, and repair of highways electrical assets, including street lighting, signage, feeder pillars, and bollards
  • Performing planned cyclic maintenance in line with client requirements and industry standards
  • Undertaking electrical testing, inspection, and fault diagnosis across highways and depot facilities
  • Supporting depot-based electrical installation and maintenance activities
  • Responding to emergency call-outs and reactive works as part of a rota
  • Completing test certification, work records, and asset documentation
  • Working in line with health and safety requirements, ensuring protection of yourself, colleagues, and the public
  • Supporting apprentices and operatives on site
  • Operating vehicles, plant, and equipment safely
  • Working outdoors and at height where required

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
