Company Description

Andreas FR Scott's Mechanical Services Department delivers heating, plumbing and electrical installation/maintenance to:

  • Commercial clients
  • Industrial businesses
  • Local authority customers

Additionally, we are the largest independent stockist of fixings, fasteners, and ironmongery in Hull, supporting businesses in Hull and East Yorkshire since 1945.

We supply construction, joinery, engineering and manufacturing firms across Hull and the East Riding, offering tailored products and services that save customers:

Role Description: Permanent Electrician

Location: Kingston upon Hull

This is a full-time, permanent electrician recruitment opportunity within our team.

Key Responsibilities

Based independently and as part of a team, your core duties will include:

  • Installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment across:
    • Commercial properties
    • Industrial premises
    • Public sector buildings

Daily tasks:

  • Interpret electrical drawings and schematics
  • Wire and connect components correctly
  • Conduct routine inspections and safety checks against UK regulations
  • Diagnose electrical faults and perform troubleshooting
  • Complete corrective work when required
  • Maintain accurate electrical maintenance records

You will also:

  • Collaborate with:
    • Colleagues
    • Supervisors
    • Clients
  • Plan work schedules and coordinate with other trades
  • Deliver reliable, safe, and efficient services

Required Qualifications & Experience

This electrician job requires:

  • Time-served electrician status
  • Current 18th Edition certification
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Electricity principles
    • Safe electrical work practices
  • Technical skills in:
    • Electrical installation
    • System wiring
    • Troubleshooting
  • Experience with:
    • Maintaining/repairing commercial and industrial electrical systems
    • Diagnostic and corrective work
  • Qualifications
    • NVQ or City & Guilds qualifications (or equivalent)
    • Training in apprenticeships or vocational electrical engineering programmes
  • Current knowledge of UK regulations including:
    • BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations)
    • Safe electrical working practices
  • Ability to:
    • Read technical drawings and schematics
    • Operate electrical test equipment
    • Complete accurate documentation
  • Soft skills
    • Strong problem-solving ability
    • High attention to detail
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
