Electrician - Approved

Location: Craven Arms

Salary: £41,056.89 per annum

We are looking for a qualified Approved Electrician to join our Building Safety & Compliance team and play a vital role in delivering our high-quality repairs, maintenance and compliance service.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electrician who enjoys a varied role, takes pride in delivering excellent customer service, and wants to make a real difference to local communities.

About the role

As an Approved Electrician, you will carry out a range of electrical installation, maintenance, testing and fault-finding work within occupied homes, communal areas and other Connexus properties. You will ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and in line with current regulations and company standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out electrical repairs, maintenance and installation work.
  • Testing, inspecting and certifying electrical systems.
  • Installing and maintaining fire alarms, emergency lighting, heating controls and door entry systems.
  • Diagnosing faults and completing repairs first time wherever possible.
  • Completing all required certification, records and job information accurately.
  • Managing van stock and materials effectively.
  • Working in compliance with BS7671 Wiring Regulations and health and safety requirements.
  • Participating in the out-of-hours emergency repairs service on a rota basis.
  • Delivering a professional, customer-focused service at all times.

About you

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has strong experience in domestic electrical repairs and maintenance.
  • Can diagnose faults and work independently using their own initiative.
  • Has excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Is organised, methodical and able to manage competing priorities.
  • Is comfortable using handheld technology and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Has experience working safely in occupied properties and customer environments.
  • Is adaptable, reliable and committed to delivering high-quality workmanship.
  • Can undertake associated basic multi-skilled tasks where required.
  • Experience with renewable energy systems would be advantageous.

Essential qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent).
  • Completed a recognised electrical apprenticeship.
  • Current edition Wiring Regulations qualification.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing (or equivalent).
  • Previous experience working as a qualified electrician.
