Electrician – Permanent, Full Time (6-Week Shift Pattern)
Location: Forth Valley Royal Hospital, FK5 4WR
Salary: Up to £43,039 per annum + excellent benefits
About the Role
Serco are seeking a skilled and dedicated Electrician to join their Estates and Facilities Team at Forth Valley Royal Hospital.
You will play a vital role in maintaining and ensuring the relability, safety, and efficiency of the hospital’s electrical systems and services, working as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team.
Primary duties will include planned preventative maintenance (PPM), fault diagnosis, repair, installation, and testing of electrical systems, ensuring compliance with Scottish Health Technical Memoranda (SHTM) standards. Your work will contribute to maintaining critical infrastructure that supports patient care, 24 hours a day.
Due to the nature of the position, you will be required to operate under a 6-week shift rota to ensure continuous coverage.
Responsibilities
As an Electrician, you will be responsible for:
- Providing specialist electrical advice and support to colleagues and contractors
- Carrying out planned and reactive electrical maintenance on plant, equipment, and infrastructure
- Undertaking fault-finding, testing, inspection, and diagnosis of complex electrical systems
- Completing installation, repair, calibration, and validation tasks, adhering to regulatory standards
- Utilising calibrated test equipment to ensure the safe operation of wiring systems, emergency generators, and critical equipment
- Participating in the on-call rota for out-of-hours emergency response
- Maintaining accurate records, including work orders, test certificates, and reports
- Supporting apprentices and junior team members as required

Requirements
To be considered for this role, you should have:
- A recognised electrical trade qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3/4) and practical experience in a complex building environment
- Strong fault-finding skills and the ability to work autonomously, prioritising demands efficiently
- Knowledge of operational electrical regulations, including BS7671 (Wiring Regulations) and safe systems of work
- Familiarity with (or a willingness to learn) Building Management Systems, medical gases, HVAC, or similar infrastructure
- Problem-solving abilities, the capacity to act with initiative, and the delivery of safe, high-quality work under pressure
Vetting & Additional Requirements
- Membership of the PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) Scheme will be required
- Completion of an Occupational Health Questionnaire (to assess capabilities and potential adjustments)
