About Us

We’re the UK's largest ports operator with a network of 21 ports around Britain. We handle around one quarter of the UK's seaborne trade and contribute £7.5 billion to our economy every year.

It’s a story we’re proud of but it doesn’t end there. We’re transforming our business and embracing the future.

We offer a vast range of roles spanning the UK, all rooted in a culture that welcomes diversity, fosters talent, encourages internal movement and progression, and places safety as our number one priority.

We’re looking for an Electrical Technician to join our team at the Port of Southampton, helping to keep vital port infrastructure and operations running safely and efficiently.

In this hands-on role, you’ll provide planned and reactive maintenance across a wide range of port assets and equipment in a fast-paced, operational environment. From electrical systems to large-scale port infrastructure, your work will be essential to keeping our port moving.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver a proactive maintenance service to support smooth port operations
  • Carry out maintenance on a variety of assets, including:
    • Fire alarm and emergency lighting systems
    • Mobile harbour cranes and port equipment
    • Commercial and industrial buildings
    • Street lighting and high mast systems
  • Diagnose faults and carry out repairs using electrical schematics
  • Maintain and repair motors, drives, PLCs and control systems
  • Provide breakdown cover and support operational requirements, including out-of-hours work
  • Work at height and in environments close to water

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
