Location
We are currently looking to recruit an Electrician to work across West Yorkshire in our Bio Team within our Wastewater business area here at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. This is a mobile worker role.
Work Type
- Permanent: 37 hours per week
- Out of Hours: Weekend working and bank holidays will be part of a structured stand-by rota
- Standby Rota: Includes evenings, weekends, and overnight callouts (no more than 1 week in every 4)

Role Overview
As an Electrician, you will undertake maintenance of Yorkshire Water's Electrical and Mechanical assets across wastewater treatment and pumping installations. You will be part of a BioTeam to deliver Planned & Reactive maintenance, responding to emergency calls both in and out of hours (on call-out rota). Driving to deliver improved asset reliability through effective decision making.

Responsibilities
- Work unsupervised in remote geographic locations and be accountable for the completion of planned and reactive electrical tasks within agreed timescales, quality, and cost parameters.
- Manage and prioritize your own workload effectively and build and maintain relationships with operational customers, colleagues, suppliers, and contract partners.
- Adhere to Health and Safety policy and standards, actively identifying hazards, providing mitigation, and reporting onto the company hazard database.
- Supervise approved Contract Partners, providing risk assessments and method statements where permit to work is required for a given task.
- Use a Toughbook/iPad to capture all work activity and job status in line with workflow processes.
- Assist in the development and training of apprentices as well as less experienced members of the team, identifying ways to improve the value and service delivered by the Maintenance Function within Process & Pumping.
- Install and commission new plant and equipment to relevant standards.
- Diagnose and repair faults on systems and plant.
- Proactively identify and report follow-on work or areas for enhancement.
- Conduct your own risk assessments and create appropriate method statements when required to safely carry out maintenance activities.
- Specify parts and equipment required for procurement as part of day-to-day role.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Hold a recognised Electrical Craft/Technician Apprenticeship and either a City & Guilds/ ONC/ BTEC/ NVQ/ HNC/ HND or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Eng Tech.
- Full valid driving licence (with no more than six points).
Desirable Qualifications
- IET 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (City and Guilds 2382-18).
- CompEx 1 – 4.
- HNC Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
Mandatory Experience and Knowledge
- Safe isolation to the current IET regulations.
- Time served industrial electrician.
- Fault finding on control circuits up to the PLC.
- IT literate e.g., MS Office.
- Ability to produce maintenance reports.
- Experience of fault finding with industrial motors and starters.
- Experience fault finding with industrial 3 phase systems.
- Experience working with rotating equipment.
- Experience of fault finding on LV control circuits.

Desirable Experience and Knowledge
- Experience of pneumatics.
- Work within ATEX standards.
- Experience of maintaining UPS systems.
- Fault finding experience of soft start or variable speed drives.
- Fault finding experience of actuated valves.
Ideal Experience
- Previous experience gained as an industrial electrician within the water or wastewater sectors or within the broader utilities, process, or manufacturing industry sectors.
- Proven track record of maintaining and repairing 3 phase rotating machinery and associated control systems.
- Systematic approach to fault finding using industry best practice, with the ability to share and mentor others.
Additional Requirements
- Work within confined spaces.
- Pass strict medical criteria including BMI, vision, blood pressure, hearing, and Spirometry tests to ensure full safety when working in hazardous environments.
