Position Summary
A full-time Electrician role is available in Ely, joining Sanctuary’s Property Services team.
Salary & Working Hours
- £41,192 - £43,360 per year (rising to £43,360 after 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance)
- 40 hours per week, Mon–Fri, 07:30–17:00

Role Overview
As an Electrician, you will primarily carry out inspection, testing, and repair work in occupied properties, producing Electrical Condition Reports and even handling remedial works as needed.
The role involves a mix of lone and team-based working, with varied responsibilities and opportunities to drive business outcomes. You will be provided with a company van, power tools, and ongoing training as required.
This Property Services position sits within a department that supports UK-wide property maintenance, compliance, and asset management, with a focus on Health & Safety standards—including fire safety—while delivering cost-effective service solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Work
- Carry out installation, fault-fixing, and maintenance tasks in line with contracts and service specifications
- Conduct **electrical inspections, testing, and condition report generation while in occupied properties
- Perform remedial works as part of safe-compliance obligations
- Maintain tools, equipment, and stocks in line with budget procedures and budgets

Customer-Facing Duties
- Provide clear, timely updates on progress and solutions understood by customers
- Respond to complaints and service disruptions, ensuring compliance with contract demands and external expectations
- Lead problem-solving where escalation is necessary while keeping customers fully informed
Compliance & Safety
- Strict adherence to Health & Safety legislation, including relevant certifications
- Fixed tasks under inspection and building regulation standards
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Qualifications:
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (3rd/4th Amendments) qualified
- NVQ Level 3 in Core Electrician Studies, or attainment of City & Guilds 2391-52 (Installation) & AM2 (Acceptance of original certification required during interview—no photocopies or CSCS cards)
- Driving licence: Valid UK full driving licence for company vehicle use
- Problem-solving: Ability to diagnose issues, apply safety regulations, and resolve issues with minimum disruption
- Communication: Strong customer relationship and interpersonal skills
Preferred (Plus Points)
- Experience in light-ups return inspections or luminal testing
- Relevant asset portfolio work
About Property Services
Sanctuary’s Property Services team ensures high-quality, cost-effective repairs, compliance, and installations for a variety of internal (and an occasional external) housing stock. Responsibility spans capacity assessments, emergency repairs, space-charging, health and safety checks, including fire safety attestations, landlord identification, asset management, and reinvestment plans.
