Your role
- Install, remove, maintain, test, and repair street lighting columns and other electrified street furniture including the excavation for columns, signposts, bollards, etc.
- Excavate shallow trenches, lay cable and ducting in preparation for electrification of equipment.
- Undertake basic setting out of works and interpretation of plans.
- Drive vehicles and safely operate specialist vehicles (e.g., crane, wagons, HIAB) and small plant, compressors, plate compactors, etc.
- Liaise with the public whilst on official duties.
- If required, participate in the efficient operation of the street lighting out-of-hours emergency service.
- Act as cover for the Street Lighting Supervisor during absence.
Your profile
- Proven technical electrician skills with a track record of delivering the intended works requirements successfully.
- Willingness and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- A desire to gain new skills and a specialist professional street lighting qualification.
- A sense of pride in being a visible representative of the council, working to improve the local community.
- Full UK driving licence. Competent in driving vehicles and safely operating plant and equipment to an industry-recognised standard.
