Electrician Role, Scotland (Field-Based)

As an Electrician at United Infrastructure, you will ensure electrical systems are installed, tested, commissioned, maintained, and troubleshooted at project sites. You’ll uphold safety, technical standards, and project timelines while supporting field teams and clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installation & Commissioning: Set up electrical systems including switchgear, transformers, control panels, and power distribution equipment.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair electrical faults, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Technical Review: Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to national/international standards (NEC, IEC, IEEE).
  • Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, designers, and contractors for seamless project execution.
  • Reporting: Prepare technical reports, test results, and as-built documentation.
  • Maintenance: Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Safety & Quality: Implement and enforce safety procedures and quality controls at job sites.
  • Training: Provide technical guidance to technicians and junior engineers.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Degree/Apprenticeship: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent qualification) in Electrical Engineering.
  • Certifications:
    • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
    • C+G 2365 (Level 3 competencies).
  • Experience: 2–5+ years of field experience (depending on role level).
  • Technical Knowledge:
    • Power systems, protection, control circuits.
    • Proficiency with software: AutoCAD, ETAP, MATLAB (or similar).
    • Industry knowledge of PLCs, drives, and automation systems (preferred).
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork.

Preferred (Optional) Certifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) or EIT Certification.
  • OSHA Electrical Safety Certification.
  • NFPA 70E / IEC Safety Training.
  • HV/LV Switching Authorization.
