Electronic Engineer
Electronic Engineer – Sensor Technology
Location: Lake District
Salary: £45,000 - £52,000
About the Role KO2 is working exclusively with a well-established design and manufacturing business based in South Cumbria. This business creates innovative sensor technology to monitor noise and sound in remote environments, contributing to the IoT sector.
Due to continued growth, our client is seeking an Electronic Engineer to join their design team.
This hands-on hardware role involves developing new and existing electronic designs, starting from the initial concept and progressing through to prototyping and commissioning. While experience in embedded software isn’t mandatory, it is highly valued. If your background lies strongly in electronics and hardware and you are eager to expand your embedded C/C++ skills in a commercial environment, this role offers an excellent opportunity to transition into embedded systems, guided by seasoned engineers.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with the design team to refine and develop electronic circuitry and embedded systems tailored for cutting-edge sensor products.
- Design and test electrical schematics and PCBs, construct and evaluate prototypes, and troubleshoot faults in both new and established designs.
- Engage in embedded systems work as your skills and interests evolve.
- Assist other departments, suppliers, and customers by providing technical documentation.
- Occasionally take part in customer support, as well as training and demonstrative tasks.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
