I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The Opportunity
This pivotal role ensures that electronic and electro-mechanical sub-systems in the development phase are rigorously tested and verified against required environmental conditions. You will be responsible for translating verification plans and requirements into structured trial instructions, overseeing test execution, and delivering high-quality trial reports to support critical certification activities—all while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
As part of our Proving Engineering team, you'll work closely with sub-system and test equipment design teams as well as EMC, mechanical, and climatic testing experts. You will bring qualification campaigns from paper to reality, ensuring rigorous and reliable testing at our Stevenage and Bristol facilities.
Additionally, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with safety, quality, and security specialists to uphold strict compliance and industry best practices, providing essential evidence to qualify both early-stage and mature designs before production.
If you thrive in a hands-on, high-precision testing environment and enjoy working with cutting-edge technology in a structured, safety-conscious setting, this is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact.
