Electronics Design Engineer

Electronics & Mechanical Design Engineer – Exciting New Product Development Role

A key client of ours—an expanding engineering company based in Newcastle—is seeking Electronics and Mechanical Design Engineers to help develop and launch a new product range, from prototyping to mass manufacturing.

Client Overview

My client is a prestigious engineering firm, specialising in the design and manufacturing of complex technical solutions for high-end clients across the UK and internationally.

Driven by sustained growth, the company is expanding into a new market and requires talented design engineers to support:

  • New Product Development (NPD)
  • Product improvement
  • Prototyping
  • New product launch

Responsibilities for the Electronics Design Engineer

The Electronics Design Engineer will play a critical role in NPD (New Product Development) and NPI (New Product Introduction) to bring the new product range to market.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead end-to-end NPD projects, from concept generation through to final manufacturing.
  • Design and develop electromechanical products using CAD, supported by FEA (Finite Element Analysis).
  • Adapt designs in response to legislative and regulatory changes, ensuring compliance and product updates.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing and supply chain.
  • Support product management in both new and existing product lines.
  • Ensure designs are optimised for mass manufacture across varied production processes.
  • Contribute to emerging technology development and product innovation strategies.

Profile & Experience

This role requires an experienced Design Engineer with a strong track record in NPI/NPD within electromechanical product development.

Successful applicants will ideally have:

  • A strong electronics design background with proven experience in electromechanical product design.
  • Excellent grasp of core design engineering principles, including:
    • CAD modelling (preferred industry tools)
    • FEA and simulation (for stress, thermal, and structural analysis)
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and design for manufacture (DFM).
  • Commercially acumen, with awareness of product lifecycle management (PLM).
  • A proactive, collaborative, and technically driven mindset, prioritising innovation in a high-growth environment.
  • Suitability for mid-level engineers as well as senior professionals, including potential mentorship opportunities for juniors.
