Electronics / Embedded Engineer

Location: Surrey, Guildford

Salary: Up to £55,000 + Benefits


We're looking for an Electronics / Electrical Engineer to join an innovative engineering team developing and improving cutting-edge electronic products. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys solving technical challenges, working across multiple disciplines, and seeing their work make a real impact on commercial products.

This role offers a varied mix of hands-on engineering, product development, testing, and continuous improvement, with the opportunity to take ownership of projects from concept through to delivery.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Ownership and execution of end to end projects - requirements, testing.
  • Investigating electronic and electrical faults using structured problem-solving techniques.
  • Supporting the design, verification and continuous improvement of electronic control systems.
  • Developing and executing PCB and system-level test procedures.
  • Carrying out functional and electrical testing to validate design changes.
  • Working closely with software, mechanical, manufacturing and service teams to integrate new solutions.
  • Supporting embedded firmware testing and debugging hardware/software interactions.
  • Producing technical documentation, test reports and engineering records.
  • Contributing to design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives across the engineering team.

What We're Looking For

  • Degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent industry experience).
  • Experience in electronics design, electrical systems or embedded engineering.
  • Comfortable with hardware and software, with the ability to troubleshoot across both disciplines.
  • Strong fault-finding and root cause analysis skills.
  • Experience reading circuit schematics and PCB layouts.
  • Practical experience using laboratory equipment including oscilloscopes and multimeters.
  • Understanding of analogue, digital and power electronics.
  • Experience with PCB design tools.
  • Knowledge of embedded microcontrollers.
  • A structured, analytical approach to engineering and problem solving.

Desirable Experience

  • Python/C/C++ or scripting experience.
  • Embedded firmware testing.
  • Git or other version control systems.
  • Communication protocols including UART, I2C, CAN or Modbus.
  • Experience managing technical work packages or small engineering projects.
