Duties and Responsibilities

Design & Development

  • Design and develop electronic circuits and systems, including:
    • Analogue and mixed-signal circuitry
    • Embedded microcontroller-based designs
  • Perform circuit simulation, schematic capture, and PCB layout using Altium
  • Develop prototypes, proof-of-concept designs, and undertake board bring-up activities

Verification and Validation

  • Define and execute Design Verification and Validation (V&V) activities
  • Develop test strategies including DFT/DFx principles and test coverage analysis
  • Specify and support development of PCB test fixtures and production test solutions
  • Conduct bench testing and performance validation against requirements

Product Lifecycle & NPI

  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, including engagement with manufacturing partners
  • Contribute to product architecture, specifications, and design reviews
  • Support cost optimisation, value engineering, and product teardown activities
  • Provide sustaining engineering support for products in manufacture

Compliance & Regulatory

  • Support compliance activities for products requiring certification (e.g., ATEX, Intrinsic Safety)
  • Work with the Compliance team to ensure designs meet relevant regulatory requirements
  • Prepare technical documentation to support certification submissions

Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement

  • Investigate and analyse product failures, identifying root causes and corrective actions
  • Interpret schematics, datasheets, and technical documentation to support cross-functional teams
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across design, test, and manufacturing

Collaboration

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including Mechanical, Software, Manufacturing, and Compliance
  • Engage effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners
  • Communicate technical information clearly through reports, documentation, and reviews

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in an electronics engineering environment
  • Strong practical experience in electronic circuit design and development
  • Proficiency with PCB design tools (Altium preferred)
  • Experience in prototyping, testing, and debugging electronic systems
  • Good understanding of the full product development lifecycle
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Desirable

  • Experience with low-power and low-noise analogue design
  • Exposure to high-reliability or long-life product design
  • Experience with NPI and electronic contract manufacturing
