You will work across the full product lifecycle, from concept development and detailed design through laboratory testing, product validation, manufacture, and field support. The role provides the opportunity to develop safety-critical technology that is deployed worldwide in commercial diving, defence, and hyperbaric applications.

- Adherence to engineering and company standards and processes.
- Site visits to other JFD offices and client assets as and when required.

- Proven experience in an electronics engineering or similar role.

- Experience designing embedded system circuits (STM32 or similar microcontrollers).
- Knowledge of EMC-compliant electronic system design.
- Proficient in schematic capture and PCB design using tools such as Altium Designer or KiCAD.
- Experience producing manufacturing documentation (Gerber files, BOMs) and using PLM systems.
- Understanding of IPC electronics standards; experience with embedded software and marine/defence standards (LR/DNV) is advantageous.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
