At Universal Quantum, we’re pushing the boundaries of quantum technology. We’re seeking a passionate and experienced Electronics Engineer to join our Electronics Group, focusing on design and verification to advance quantum computing.

What You’ll Accomplish
- Lead the testing of integrated electronic circuits and/or subsystems
- Design, build, and test analogue and digital electronic solutions using industry-standard CAD tools and test equipment
- Author detailed documentation for electronics circuits and verification tests
- Develop expertise across a wide range of electronics engineering disciplines
- Collaborate multidisciplinarily with mechanical engineers, software engineers, and physicists for a shared vision
- Play a critical role in constructing test systems for quantum computers
- Elevate UQ’s standards by employing state-of-the-art electronics solutions
- Participate in project planning, risk management, and scheduling
- Support rapid prototyping and feasibility discussions
- Gain deep firmware and software knowledge for quantum system control

Requirements
Essential Attributes (for Comparison)
Communicating candidates will be assessed on their:
- Electronics or verification experience
- Hands-on experience with complex systems from concept to delivery
- Mastery of:
- PCB schematic and layout (CAD tools)
- Manufacturing processes
- Verification/debug skills (using test equipment)
Must-Have Skills
✅ 10+ years of practical/hands-on experience in electronics design ✅ Test plan development & execution for complex systems ✅ Analogue design experience ✅ PCB design proficiency ✅ Knowledge of low-noise design methods ✅ Experience working with suppliers and contractors ✅ Strong documentation discipline ✅ Exceptional interpersonal & communication skills (team-player mindset) ✅ Degree-level education (minimum 2:1 BEng/BSc) in Electronics Engineering or a closely related field
Nice-to-Have Skills
🔹 Background in system engineering, research, metrology, or instrumentation 🔹 Understanding of signal integrity, high-speed digital design, and EMC 🔹 Experience with C and/or scripting (e.g., Python, MATLAB) 🔹 LabVIEW experience 🔹 Pragmatic decision-making in design and project execution 🔹 Team/project management experience
