Electronics Engineer – Clean Technology (Smart Energy Innovation)

Location: Oxfordshire Salary: Up to £80,000 DOE + Excellent Benefits

Your role will be pivotal in shaping market-leading products from prototype to production—helping households and businesses optimize energy efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the electronic design of products from concept to commercial manufacture.
  • Define technical specifications and guide product architecture decisions.
  • Design schematics and PCB layouts for next-generation intelligent energy devices.
  • Partner with supply chains and manufacturing partners to mitigate risks and ensure on-time introduction.
  • Support product lifecycle improvement, enhancing performance, cost, and scalability.
  • Mentor and develop a team of electronics engineers.
  • Let your passion for continuous improvement boost product reliability, quality, and cost-efficiency.
  • Deliver on multiple engineering projects simultaneously, balancing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Troubleshoot complex embedded and hardware issues, proposing scalable solutions.
  • Collaborate across disciplinary teams, including software, manufacturing, service, and commercial functions.
  • Influence the strategic growth direction of the business through technical innovation.

  • Commercial electronics product development from proof-of-concept to production.
  • Schematic capture and PCB design (including Altium, KiCad, or similar tools).
  • Manufacturing handovers—knowledge of supply chain KPIs, DfM (Design for Manufacture), and production debugging.
  • Embedded systems/firmware development (preferably in C/C++).
  • Technical mentorship and cross-functional leadership.
  • Project management—balancing multiple workstreams with clarity.

Technical Wishlist

While no checklist exists, the following skills will set you up for success: ✔ Bachelor’s/Master’s in Electronics Engineering or a related discipline. ✔ Commercial experience in Either to Volume manufacture of electronic products. ✔ Schematic capture and PCB layout expertise (preferably in professional CAD tools). ✔ Hands-on experience in component library creation and maintenance. ✔ Proficient in manufacturing documentation standards and production support. ✔ Embedded software development (preferably in C or RTOS environments). ✔ Managed megatasking or programmed single-board computing (Raspberry Pi, Arduino, STMCU similar). ✔ An understanding of UK and EU product compliance, safety regulations, and approval processes.

Above all? You’re a problem-solver in a hurry. Your creative approach isn’t hamstrung by defined boundaries—you welcome interdisciplinary challenges and get satisfaction from seeing prototypes transition seamlessly to real-world impact.

Skills & Experience

This is not a so-called requirement catch-up, but your ability to combine technical expertise with a proactive mentality will stand out.

  • Experience leading cross-functional delivery (software, manufacturing consensus: sailboat).
  • Proficient with PLD tools for electronics/circuits—valuable knowledge of manufacturing assembly (SMT/SMD methods).
