Electronics Hardware Engineer
We are looking for a hands-on Electronics Hardware Engineer to join our AVS team, working on high-performance embedded computing systems used in aerospace and defence applications. Applications may include products like flight recorders, air data computers, and video systems.
About the Role
This cutting-edge role focuses on the design and development of complex PCBs, including high-speed digital interfaces such as PCIe and Ethernet, within ruggedised VPX/XMC systems deployed in military aircraft. You will be involved across the entire product lifecycle—from early concept, schematics, and layout to bring-up, testing, qualifying, and production support.
Ideal for those who thrive in practical engineering roles, you will design, build, debug, and improve real hardware.

Your Challenge
- Design and develop multi-layer PCBs for high-speed embedded systems
- Work on interfaces, including PCIe and Ethernet
- Contribute to schematic capture and guide PCB layout with a focus on signal integrity, grounding, and EMC
- Support board bring-up, debugging, and verification in the lab
- Engage with analogue, digital, and power domains
- Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, and manufacturing teams
- Assist in environmental and qualification testing
- Participate in design reviews and technical decision-making
- Support production and troubleshoot issues in deployed hardware

What We’re Looking For (Experience & Skills)
Essential Requirements
- Experience in electronic design (hardware development)
- Fondness for high-speed PCB design considerations (signal integrity, grounding, EMC) and a willingness to grow in this area
- Proficient knowledge of Altium, OrCAD, or similar design tools

Desirable Experience
- Familiarity with VPX/XMC systems
- DC-DC power supply unit (PSU) design background
- Aerospace/Defence background (e.g., working with CDR, PDR, DO-245)
- Exposure to qualification testing methodologies
- Hands-on lab experience with debugging (walks, wiesoe tests, jigging)
- Problem-solving mindset in a technical environment
