Electronics Technician

Electronics Technician Berkshire – up to £35,000 + Benefits | REF 2032

A leading engineering organisation based in Berkshire is recruiting an Electronics Technician on a permanent basis. This opportunity offers a salary up to £35,000 + Benefits and is supported by a company with a 70-year heritage and cutting-edge technological expertise.

As the company grows and workloads increase, they are seeking a dedicated Electronics Technician to support and enhance their engineering team.


Role Overview

In this hands-on role, you will:

  • Support Engineers working on the design and development of new products.
  • Assemble prototypes, conduct testing, and document results with relevant data/supplies.
  • Perform soldering, PCB rework activities, and prepare necessary harnesses.
  • Operate 3D printers and EMC test chambers.
  • Collaborate in a laboratory setting, contributing to innovative research and development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with laboratory-based electronics work.
  • Conducting prototype assembly and testing.
  • Handling soldering and PCB repair tasks.
  • Generating technical data, documentation, and reports.
  • Operating and maintaining specialised equipment (3D printers, EMC chambers).

Essential Requirements

  • Experience as:
    • Electronics Technician
    • Electronics Engineer
    • Electronics Test Engineer
    • Prototype Engineer
    • Electronics Lab Technician
    • Bench Technician
    • or a similar related role.
  • Hands-on familiarity with:
    • Multimeters
    • Oscilloscopes
    • Bench power supplies
    • Signal generators
    • Logic analysers

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience working in a dedicated laboratory environment.
  • Basic to advanced skills in soldering (hand or wave).
  • Security clearance (preferably SC).
  • Simulation/design experience with/preference for Altium.
  • Hands-on work with:
    • Raspberry Pi/Arduino
    • Embedded systems
    • Sensors, microcontrollers, motors, power supplies.
  • Knowledge of ESD handling, component identification, and PCB inspection techniques.
