Preparation Time Specialist – Boulton Elementary School
Position Summary
Under the general supervision of the Principal or another supervisor, the Preparation Time Specialist teaches classes and/or supervises students during teacher preparation time. Prepares lesson plans, classroom materials, and provides instruction in specialized subjects such as:
- Music
- Art
- Science
- Computer operations
- Media center usage
- Physical Education
- Languages
- Health

- Hours: ~12:00 PM – 3:45 PM (Mon–Thurs) (~14.81 hours/week, 2.96 hours/day)
- Salary: $19.98/hr (2026–27 Support Salary Grade 6)
- Promotion Policy: 5% minimum increase per promotion

Duties & Responsibilities
- Teaches assigned subject areas and/or supervises students during teacher prep time.
- Develops lesson plans and prepares required instructional materials.
- Provides specialized instruction in assigned subject areas (e.g., music, art, science, tech, PE, languages).
Education & Requirements
Educational Qualifications
The candidate must meet one of the following: ✔ High school diploma or equivalent or ✔ Triumphs over Utah State Office of Education-approved Para-Professional Test (at a later stage) and ✔ Completion of 48 semester hours (†2 years) of college coursework or ✔ Possession of an attainable’s degree

Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of the assigned subject matter areas.
- Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with students, teachers, and staff.
- Ability to effectively teach assigned subjects.
Experience & Preference
- No prior experience required.
- Experience working with children is advantageous.
